Who We Are
Accra—like many African cities—is on the frontlines of climate change and environmental degradation. Yet, it is also home to passionate youth and institutions ready to lead the charge for a sustainable future.
Sustainability Week Accra responds to the urgent need to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), circular economy practices, food system transformation, and the realities of climate change. By focusing on education for sustainability, we empower a generation to make informed decisions and adopt sustainable lifestyles.
Educating students and communities about the impact of global warming and the importance of climate-smart action.
Promoting awareness of sustainable, healthy food choices and local food production.
Championing reuse, zero-waste lifestyles, and responsible consumption on and off campus.
Supporting student-led projects and ideas that advance sustainability in their schools and communities.
Our Vision
From fossil fuel dependence to waste mismanagement and urban pollution, Africa’s sustainability challenges are interconnected and urgent. Our vision is to bring sustainability into the core of higher education institutions—so they can become living laboratories and role models for their communities.
By embedding sustainability into learning, collaboration, and daily campus life, we spark long-term systems change.
